First Stretch Goal Unlocked & First Backer Vote! Bears or Pirates???

Greetings Citizens of Treasure Falls,
The Quest Kids campaign still has 13 days to go and we just unlocked our first Stretch Goal by hitting $17,000 (113% of our goal)! That means you get to decide what new silly bad guys we add to the game!
NEW DUNGEON TILES
Throughout the Quest Kids adventure players encounter different bad guys when exploring dungeon tiles. By unlocking this stretch goal we will create three new dungeon tiles with three new character designs from our artist Apolline Etienne.
These new dungeon tiles will add variety to the silly bad guys you encounter when playing the base game and new story opportunities for the campaign mode. We will either add three new bears or three new pirates. Here's more info to help you make your choice:
THE BEARS OF TREASURE FALLS
The Bears of Treasure Falls are a pretty laid back group. They enjoy snoozing in the forest, searching caves for treasure and sneaking into town to steal the occasional wagon full of pies. However, they are friends with the Trolls of Treasure Falls, which causes them to sometimes get into more trouble than they are comfortable with.
Chompy (pictured above in the Stretch Goal graphic) is currently in the game, however here is a rough work-in-progress sketch of what Chompy's dad may look like:
THE PIRATES OF TREASURE FALLS
The Pirates of Treasure Falls are silly, piratey and often times funny. However, they are also responsible for a great deal of the emergencies that The Quest Kids need to deal with. They are Pirates after all, and what do Pirates like even more than finding treasure? Stealing treasure.
There are already two Pirates in the game. Empty Belly the perpetually hungry Pirate (pictured above in the Stretch Goal graphic) and his mischievous friend Peggy (pictured below). Also below is a rough sketch of another Pirate that may join their merry crew (if the backers so choose).
Lastly, here is a short video from our YouTube channel showing the Pirates of Treasure Falls relaxing and telling some jokes.
HOW TO VOTE
Voting is simple: just post a comment to this update with"PIRATES!" or "BEARS!". We will tally up the votes on Sunday night at Midnight (10/13).
Also, we'll count your vote twice if you give a suggestion for a new Pirate or Bear character with your vote. For example, the comment "BEARS! A flying bear named "Wings" who can fly when he eats honey!" would count as two votes for Bears. We may just use one of your ideas for a new character in the game!

Happy Monday Citizens of Treasure Falls,
First, a quick update on our current stretch goal quest. We are less than 20 backers away from unlocking our first new bad guy vote! Start contemplating the pros and cons of bears vs. pirates...
BEING A KIND KID IN THE QUEST KIDS
I'd like to quickly discuss one of my favorite elements of The Quest Kids: the Kind Kid cards. Throughout the game if a player encounters a bad guy that they are unable to scare away they can ask for help from their friends. If a player receives help from their friends they are able to scare away the bad guy and put the bad guy dungeon tile onto their player board. Victory!
However, if a player helps a friend by providing a needed ability card they receive a Kind Kid card. Kind Kid cards are always good and provide unique powers that can be used throughout the game. Some of these powers include an extra turn, the ability to peak at hidden dungeon tiles or wild card ability cards.
This mechanism creates a great atmosphere of teamwork throughout the game. Players always want to help other players, because it is beneficial for everyone involved! In fact, almost every time I have played the player who has the most Kind Kid cards at the end of the game ends up with the most stars. As Jenny from 90 Second Nerd put it "The Quest Kids really encourages my kids' camaraderie and kindness, and who doesn't want that in a game?"
I love it when a player in need asks "can anyone help me?" and all of the other players raise their hands :)

Hello Citizens of Treasure Falls!
Trumpets blast from the castle walls. Children run laughing through the market square. Tired heroes take a well deserved seat, kick their feet up and smile. For on this day The Quest Kids have completed a monumental quest: The Quest Kids is a funded project!
It truly is a dream come true that families across the world will be able to enjoy this game together. Thank you so much for making this a reality! All of you are amazing.
Now, I always finish my updates with "A Quest Kids quest is never done" and that is certainly true now that we have vanquished the funding bad guy! So, up next is our quest to unlock stretch goals! Here's a quick reminder on the next couple:
Each of these stretch goals will add 3 new character designs, 3 new dungeon tiles and new story lines to upcoming campaign scenarios!
Additionally, don't forget about our SOCIAL STRETCH GOALS!
Once again, THANK YOU SO MUCH for backing The Quest Kids and making it a successful project. I designed this game for parents to introduce the joy of gaming with their children and it is simply amazing that will now happen.

As the sun rises over the Treasure Falls castle this new day brings glad tidings.
We have over 300 backers and are very close to 90% funded! We have seen some strong momentum over the past couple of days and it'd be amazing to keep it going. LIVESTREAM WITH VORPAL BOARD
I had a blast playing The Quest Kids yesterday afternoon with James from Vorpal Board, his daughter Alyssa and my son Grayson. The Vorpal Board interface was super intuitive and made playing a game with friends across the country (Texas to New York) quite effortless. Here's the video!
Quick note: Gameplay starts around the 13:00 mark and games usually run about 30 minutes (we went a bit more slowly here as we chatted about the game and I learned the Vorpal Board interface).

This is just a quick reminder that I will be playing The Quest Kids live with my son at 3:30 PM CST this afternoon via Vorpal Board! We will be joined by James from Vorpal Board and his daughter. It should be a lot of fun, so please join us if you can.
